Banana chocolate chip muffins are one of my favorite foods ever! And this recipe is a healthier version of anything you will eat at a restaurant, or buy in the store. By no means is it ‘healthy’ just healthier. And very satisfying! It makes about 12-18 muffins.

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips, coarsely chopped
2 very ripe large bananas, mashed
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup non fat greek yogurt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a muffin pan with non stick spray.

Mix yogurt, eggs, applesauce, vanilla, brown sugar and bananas.

Add the baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour. Fold in the 3/4 c. chopped chocolate chips at the end. Do not over mix the dough. It will become rubbery.
Pour batter 3/4 of the way full into each muffin tin. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.

Bake for 30-35 minutes. Or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
