For those of you who know me personally or who have been following my blog for a little while, you have seen some of my journey through thyroid disease and pregnancy discouragement. Brief history:

December 2008 – I was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease (a form of hyperthyroid) and was told we needed to get that under control and wait at least 1 year before trying to get pregnant.

June 13th, 2009 – We celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary which also marked the time when we thought we would have had kids (we said 5 years after we got married we hoped to have our first). So that was bittersweet day.

December 8th, 2009 – I am pregnant.

January 14th, 2010 – I had a miscarriage via blighted ovum. I had to have a d&c as well. My doctor advised us to wait about 2 months before we started trying to get pregnant again. So we waited.

May 2010 – I am pregnant. FOR REAL this time!!!!!! Holy smokes!

June 13th 2010 – 6 year anniversary was celebrated by eating spaghetti with marinara at home while I tried to calm my ‘morning’ sickness. Look folks, morning sickness is an all day everyday thing for me. Whoever coined the term ‘morning’ must have been a man.

June 14th 2010– We had our first ultrasound and saw the heart beat. Holy Crap, we are really pregnant, this is happening. Oh my gosh. I am speechless.

Barf, whine, throw up, eat spaghettios, barf again. Sleep, sleep some more, throw up, then sleep some more. This is what most of June and the beginning of July looked like. I am fairly certain there is a permanent butt imprint in our sofa from where I sat, all day and night for some of the time.

Present – Well, we are now almost through the first trimester and happy to announce to EVERYONE that January 31 is the anticipated due date. I am also happy to announce that most of the ‘morning sickness’ has worn off. I have been able to exercise a little bit and eat some normal foods again.

It is so fun to dream about the future and think what this time next year will be like. For sure it will mean lots of time in the pool and park. I can’t wait til they are old enough to slip and slide, that’s my favorite.

So far these are the most frequently asked questions:

Are you going to find out the sex? YES
When?
End of August
Do you have any names picked out? YES, and they are good ones too. We have decided not to share because your opinion is well, your opinion and I want to choose my babies name based on what I like (and what the husband likes), not based on what you like.

Hopefully I will come back to blogging about food soon. So far I have crazy food aversions and the thought of even cooking grosses me out, let alone cooking something, and photographing it, THEN having to write about it, no thank you!
